All-Fiber Configuration Laser Self-Mixing Doppler Velocimeter Based on Distributed Feedback Fiber Laser
In this paper, a novel velocimeter based on laser self-mixing Doppler technology has been developed for speed measurement. The laser employed in our experiment is a distributed feedback (DFB) fiber laser, which is an all-fiber structure using only one Fiber Bragg Grating to realize optical feedback and wavelength selection. Self-mixing interference for optical velocity sensing is experimentally...
متن کاملPhase noise of diode laser in self-mixing interference.
We investigate the phase noise of a diode laser based on the interferometric self-mixing effect. A detuned Fabry-Perot cavity converts the phase noise into intensity noise, and the noise is measured by the novel method as a function of the amount of feedback and the distance between the target and the laser front facet. Experimental results can be well explained by theory.
متن کاملSelf-mixing interference effects in tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy
We report the effects of self-mixing interference on gas detection using tunable diode laser spectroscopy. For very weak feedback, the laser diode output intensity gains a sinusoidal modulation analogous to that caused by low finesse etalons in the optical path. Our experiments show that self-mixing interference can arise from both specular reflections (eg cell windows) and diffuse reflections ...
متن کاملClassification of laser self-mixing interferometric signal under moderate feedback.
This paper presents a different approach to classify self-mixing (SM) signals operating in the moderate feedback regime. A total of six distinct classes of SM signals can be defined based on the SM inherent shapes, which depend on both the feedback factor C and the linewidth enhancement factor α. This classification allows clear identification of SM signals for which normalization issues can ar...
متن کاملMeasurements of the alpha factor of a distributed-feedback quantum cascade laser by an optical feedback self-mixing technique.
We demonstrate measurements of the alpha factor of a distributed-feedback quantum cascade laser (QCL) by using a newly modified self-mixing interferometric technique exploring the laser itself as the detector. We find a strong dependence of the alpha factor on the injection current, ranging from -0.44 at 120 mA to 2.29 at 180 mA, which can be attributed to the inherent physics of QCLs.
